FAQs for Art Reference Use

How do I purchase a photograph for art reference use?
Go to my direct download website  www.RTreferencePhotos.com and browse through the photographs or send me a message with a screenshot of the image you found on our social media and I will send you the link.
When you found a photo on the website you would like to use as a reference, you can click on "Buy". You will then see "Art Reference Use" with the price next to it. If you click on that, the image will be added to your cart and you can go to the cart to finish your order or continue shopping.

Can I use the photos of your social media accounts as a reference?
No. We just like to share our work on social media. That does not mean thet can all be used as a reference. The images that are available to use as a reference can be purchased on www.RTreferencePhotos.com

You can always ask if an image you saw on our social media can be added to the website. Most can and will be. With the exception of several images that have been purchased for exclusive use and are therefore no longer available for art reference use for any other artist. But do feel free to send me your request if you inspired by a particular photograph.

Why do I have to pay for using your photos as a reference?
Using our photos as a reference is not free. Not because I want to make 'a lot' of money, but because photography is an expensive and time consuming hobby too. I use high quality (Canon) camera equipment and (Adobe) editing programs and have put a lot of time and energy in taking and editting my photos. I just ask for a small fee, to support me as amateur photographer. 😊 So whether you do or do not need a high resolution image, there is a (small) fee for using my images as a reference for your art.

My dream is to just make a little bit extra, so we can support wildlife conservation programs.

I want to make a painting for personal use, do I also need to ask permission?
Yes. Please always check with me first if the image you like is available and I will inform you accordingly if the image can be used as a reference and what the price is. If you do not need a high resolution download, there can be a smaller fee in some cases.

I would like to be the only one using an image as a reference, so it will be an exclusive piece. How does that work?
If you wish to create an exclusive art piece, it is possible to claim 'exclusive use' or 'sole use' for reference on a photograph. If the artist and photographer can agree on the price, the photograph will no longer be available for other artists. The copyright will remain with the photographer at all times, thus the photographer has the right to publish, print, share and sell the original photograph for anything other than art reference.

The price for exclusive/sole use depends on the image, so there can not be a set price for it. I estimate the average price will be between € 250,-, and € 750,- per image.

For more information or to request 'sole use' on your favourite photograph(s), feel free to send an e-mail or s a message on Facebook or Instagram.

Why do you offer your photos to artists to use as a reference?
We love art! Tazi wishes she inherited her grandfather's talent to paint. But unfortunately she did not.. 😉 But seeing our photographs turned into gorgeous art pieces is the next best thing! 😊

We are truly honoured and consider it an enormous compliment that our photos inspire artists to create stunning art pieces. A huge thank you to those who have! 🤗

Other FAQs

I am interested in a print of a photograph, but cannot find it on the website. Does that mean it is not available?
Not all images are available in full resolution as I sometimes like to crop the photograph to create a more intimite or powerful image.  If you found an image on my social media you would like on your wall, feel free to contact me
